Arcade trading card game to feature voice acting, collaboration with manga creators

Sega revealed at the Japan Amusement Expo 2016 event in Chiba on Friday that it is developing a new game in the Sangokushi Taisen (Romance of the Three Kingdoms Wars) arcade trading card game franchise.

The game franchise features trading cards with illustrations of characters from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel. Players use the trading cards and tactics to force their opponents to surrender their castle. The new work will include double-sided print-on-demand cards.

The new entry into the card game series will feature design work from many different illustrators and artwork in collaboration with well-known manga artists. The game will also feature voice acting by well-known voice actors.

The website states that the game will feature the same gameplay as previous entries in the series, but will put players in a leading role. The Sangokushi Taisen series has featured several services that connected the player community, including distribution of competition videos and SNS. The new entry will implement new features to keep the player community connected.

Sega is also holding a Twitter campaign for the game. The company is asking for fans to post their comments and opinions on the Sangokushi Taisen series on Twitter by using a specific hashtag. Sega will award 10 fans with a set of four Sangokushi Taisen badges by raffle.

Sega released the first Sangokushi Taisen in Japanese arcades in 2005. The game has since received several new arcade versions, as well as Nintendo DS and PC versions. The franchise has shipped more than 500 million trading cards.
