Akysys Games announced on Tuesday that it will release the XBlaze Code: Embryo visual novel on PC via Steam on March 1.
Arc System Works' "adventure of blue fate" begins 150 years before the events of the main BlazBlue story. High school boy Tōya (voiced by Yukitoshi Kikuchi) is drawn by the sound of a bell into an abandoned facility involved in a dangerous incident in the past. There, he finds a man who is groaning in pain. When he asks if the man is OK, the man attacks him. At the moment he thought that he would die, a small girl with a sword named Es (voiced by Mayuka Nomura) appears and saves him.
Producer Toshimichi Mori led his BlazBlue team on this project. The other staff members include director Hiroaki Masuzawa and character designer Konomi Higuchi. Megu Sakuragawa (Campione!, Love Live! School idol project) sings the opening theme song with lyrics by RUCCA and music by Daisuke Kikuta of Elements Garden.
The game debuted in Japan in July 2013 and Aksys Games released the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita versions in June 2014.
Arc System Works released a sequel, XBlaze Lost: Memories, in Japan last April. Aksys Games released the PS3 and PS Vita game in the west in August.
