The official website of the Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko: Everything Flows television anime series announced on Saturday that TO-MAS SOUNDSIGHT FLUORESCENT FOREST will perform the opening theme song and background music for the anime. Additionally, the website announced that Clammbon will perform the ending theme song.
TO-MAS SOUNDSIGHT FLUORESCENT FOREST consists of Masumi Itou, Mito, and Yohei Matsui. The group previously composed music for Momokuri, The Anthem of the Heart, Owarimonogatari, and Love Live! The School Idol Movie.
Clammbon, of which Mito is also a member, has previously performed theme songs for Polar Bear's Café and Hanasaku Iroha - Blossoms for Tomorrow.
Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko: Everything Flows is inspired by Makoto Shinkai's She and Her Cat (Kanojo to Kanojo no Neko) anime short. The anime will premiere on the Ultra Super Anime Time programming block on Tokyo MX and BS11 on March 4.
Kana Hanazawa will play the girl, and Shintarō Asanuma will play the black cat. The anime will portray the life of the girl, a junior college student job hunting while living alone with her pet black cat.
Kazuya Sakamoto (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Clannad, Hyōka episode director) will direct the anime at Liden Films (The Heroic Legend of Arslan, Terraformars, Schwarzes Marken), while Naruki Nagakawa (Ergo Proxy, Chō Soku Henkei Gyrozetter) will pen the scripts. Senbon Umishima (Gatchaman Crowds, Giovanni's Island, Maria the Virgin Witch key animation) is designing the characters, and will also serve as chief animation director.
The original anime short is also inspiring a manga series illustrated by Tsubasa Yamaguchi.
Shinkai (Voices of a Distant Star, 5 Centimeters per Second, The Garden of Words) released his original She and Her Cat five-minute short anime independently in 1999. Shinkai voiced the cat while his wife (then girlfriend) Mika Shinohara voiced the girl. Shinkai produced and animated the short alone, and his longtime collaborator Tenmon composed the music. The short won the grand prize at the 12th DoGA CG Animation Contest in 2000. ADV Films' 2003 DVD release of Shinkai's Voices of a Distant Star includes the short.
