Sentai Filmworks Licenses Nurse Witch Komugi R Anime (Update)

Spinoff magical girl series currently streaming on Crunchyroll

North American anime distributor Sentai Filmworks announced on Thursday that it has licensed the anime Nurse Witch Komugi R. The company plans to release the series digitally and on home video.

The anime premiered on January 10, and Crunchyroll is streaming the series in some territories as it airs in Japan.

Sentai Filmworks describes the story:

One day, second-year middle school student Komugi Yoshida encounters a wounded, rabbit-like creature named Usa-P. She tends to its injuries, and in return is granted the powers of a "Legendary Girl." Now, in addition to juggling her school duties and her career as a pop idol, Komugi has to take on the role of a magical nurse. Watch the hilarity ensue in this slapstick comedy that throws in more magic and mayhem than this busy girl can handle!

Keiichiro Kawaguchi is directing the anime at Tatsunoko Production. Momoko Murakami is supervising the series scripts, and co-writing them with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu. Akio Watanabe is credited for the original Nurse Witch Komugi character designs, and Takao Sano is designing the new anime's characters. Mina Ozawa and Keisuke Goto are the chief animation directors. Yūichi Imaizumi is directing the sound, and Kousuke Yamashita is composing the music.

The original Nurse Witch Komugi original video anime series began in 2002 as a spinoff of the Soul Takeranime. The Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R television anime is the first entry in the series since 2004's Nurse Witch Komugi-Chan Magikarte Z OAV.

Update: The series will stream on The Anime Network in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Netherlands, Turkey, Scandinavia, Central America, and South America. New episodes will debut on Tuesdays at 3:30 p.m. EST.
