The wraparound jacket band on the 20th and final compiled book volume of Hiroyuki Asada's Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee manga revealed on Monday that Asada is providing original character designs for an as-yet-unnamed television anime project that will premiere in 2016. The art on the jacket band previews the character designs.
Asada launched Tegami Bachi: Letter Bee in Shueisha's Monthly Shonen Jump magazine in 2006. After the magazine ended, the manga was briefly serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump, and finally moved to Jump Square in 2007. He ended the manga last November. Viz Media releases the manga in English in North America, and it released the 18th volume last September.
The manga inspired an anime special in 2008, and inspired two television series in 2009 and 2010. Crunchyroll streamed both series outside of Japan, and Sentai Filmworks licensed and released both on home video in North America.
