Platinum Cineplex, Cinemaxx to Show Eyes Horror Film in Indonesia

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Film based on Kōji Suzuki's short story premiered in Japan in June

Indonesian cinema chains Platinum Cineplex and Cinemaxx revealed on Thursday that they will show Yōhei Fukuda's Eyes horror film at an as-yet unspecified date. The Indonesian Film Censorship Board registered the film on October 26. Platinum Cineplex also began streaming an English-subtitled trailer for the film:

Cinemaxx describes the film:

A series of sinister events occur one after another to Yukari. She finds incomprehensible scribbles left on her porch, one of her best friends is killed in an accident, her father disappears leaving a puzzling message, and then her mother attempts suicide. While all of this is happening, a mysterious girl keeps appearing before Yukari. Who is she, and is she responsible for all these strange events?

The film stars Nogizaka46 member Marika Ito, Seiko Ozone, Taichi Yamada, and Keiji Nakagawa.

The film is based on horror novelist Kōji Suzuki's "Shirushi" short story, which he published in his Eyes book of collected short stories in 2005. The film opened in Japan on June 6.

Many of Suzuki's novels, such as Ring, Rasen, Birthday, and Dark Water, have been adapted into manga. His 1990 novel Rakuen was adapted into an anime television special in 1991 titled Michite Kuru Toki no Mukō ni. His Ring and Dark Water novels have also been adapted into live-action films both in Japan and America.
