TV5 to Start Airing Amachan Live-Action Series in Philippines

Drama aired in Japan in April 2013; also aired in Myanmar, Indonesia, Taiwan, Thailand
Philippine television channel TV5 and Japan International Broadcasting successfully signed a contract at the Manila Palace Pool Club on Monday to begin airing the live-action drama Amachan in the Philippines on TV5.
Amachan's story centers around Aki Amano, a high school student returning to her home in the Tohoku Region just before the Great East Japan Earthquake. She dreams of becoming an "ama," a traditional Japanese free-diver, but also of being a pop idol at the same time. The series is divided into three parts, spread over 156 episodes.
The series originally aired in Japan from April to September 2013, and it has since also aired in Myanmar, Indonesia, Taiwan, and Thailand.
