The official website for Kodansha's Monthly Fairy Tail Magazine announced that a new monthly magazine dedicated to Hiro Mashima's Fairy Tail manga will launch digitally on September 1 and in print on September 17. The new magazine will be titled Monthly Fairy Tail Collection.
In addition to Fairy Tail news, each issue of the magazine will bundle a DVD with four episodes of the anime and a special video featuring Lucy's voice actress Aya Hirano. Each issue will also have 3 pieces of merchandise designed by Mashima. The first issue will include a rubber strap featuring Natsu and Happy, an acrylic key chain featuring Lucy, and a tin badge featuring Grey.
Monthly Fairy Tail Magazine launched in July 2014 and ended after 13 issues exactly one year later in July.
The magazine launched with two spinoff manga. Mashima drew the prequel Fairy Tail Zero manga, which tells the story of the founders of the Fairy Tail guild. Yūsuke Shirato drew the Tale of Fairy Tail: Ice Trail manga, which centers around the boyhood of the character Gray, following him until he joined the Fairy Tail guild. Both manga ended in the magazine's 13th issue.
Kodansha Comics publishes the main Fairy Tail manga in North America, and Crunchyroll is releasing new chapters online as they come out in Japan.
