Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō Gag Anime to Air on TV
posted on by Egan Loo
The previously revealed anime of author Iipyao and artist Yūjirō Koyama's Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō manga will air on television.
The gag manga follows Agetarō Katsumata, a stupid but honest guy whose family has run a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant for three generations. He's also a beginner club DJ.
The manga series began weekly serialization in Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ app in November. Shortly after it debuted, a panel from the comic went viral. The panel, pictured below, features the main character having an epiphany that "tonkatsu cooks and DJs are the same" and makes makes a pun on "flyer" (for an event) and "fryer" (at a restaurant).
The manga also began monthly serialization in Shueisha's Men's Non No fashion magazine. Shueisha will publish the third compiled volume on August 4.
