posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Game developer Gust (Atelier series) began streaming a third "movie file" video on Thursday for its Yoru no Nai Kuni (The Country Without a Night) role-playing game for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita systems.
Illustrator Yoshiku is designing the characters for the "bishōjo selvan RPG." Tadanobu Inoue is serving as chief producer and Keisuke Kikuchi (Fatal Frame series) is serving as development producer. In the game, players will summon "selvans" or subordinate demons to use in battle. The game's story revolves around the fate of two young women: a half-fairy named Arnas (voiced by M.A.O, pictured top in image below), and her best friend, a saint named Rulitis (voiced by Hiromi Igarashi, pictured bottom in image below).
Additional characters and cast include:
Tomoyo Kurosawa as Crystoforos
Masaki Terasoma as Simon
Ayane Sakura as Kōrin
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Professor Arukado
Satoshi Hino as Lloyd
Eriko Matsui as Mistral
Saori Ōnishi as First Generation Saint
The game will ship in Japan on September 17, and the regular edition for the PS4 and PS3 will cost 6,800 yen (about US$57), with a download version retailing for 6,000 yen (US$50). A premium box edition will retail for 9,800 yen (US$82) and will include an official visual book, two original soundtrack CDs, a special Arnas 3D card, and an Arnas bath poster. A collection box edition will retail for 12,800 yen (US$104) and will include the premium box's bonuses plus a set of three A3-size tapestries.
The PS Vita version will retail for 5,800 yen (US$48) and the download edition will retail for 5,143 yen (US$43). A premium box edition of the PS Vita version will retail for 8,800 yen (US$74) and will bundle the same bonus items as the PS4 and PS3 versions. The PS Vita version of the collection box will cost 11,800 yen (US$96).
The game was originally slated for release on August 27. To make up for the delay, first-print copies of the game will include an original custom theme, as well as a download code to enable players to summon company mascot "Gust-chan" as a selvan in battle. This will be the first time that Gust-chan will appear in a Gust game as part of the game's mechanics.
