posted on by Kiara Valdez
Venio Tachibana and Rihito Takarai's boy's love manga Seven Days will get two live-action film adaptations, one for each volume of the manga. The first, MONDAY→THURSDAY will premiere on June 6, while the second, FRIDAY→SUNDAY, will premiere on July 4 in Humax Cinemas in Tokyo, followed by other theaters in Japan.
Tomoki Hirose (Yowamushi Pedal stage plays) and Takeshi James Yamada (Jigoku Sensei Nube TV drama) will star as Touji and Yuzuru, respectively. Other cast members include Hinako Tanaka, Yūki Hiyori, Rin Ishikawa, Itsuki Sagara, and Yukihiro Takiguchi.
Takeshi Yokoi is directing the films and Natsuko Takahashi is writing the screenplays.
The original story follows Yuzuru, a disillusioned senior who asks the school's most infamous student, Tōji, out as a half-hearted joke. The rumor goes that Tōji will earnestly date the first person to ask him out at the beginning of the week. But Tōji takes him seriously, and Yuzuru goes along with it, expecting it to be like the rest – a relationship begun on a Monday, and abruptly ended by the following Sunday. What he doesn't expect is the romantic feelings that start to emerge.
The Seven Days manga placed 5th in 2010's Kono BL ga Yabai (This BL is Dangerous) rankings and also has a drama CD adaptation. Digital Manga Inc. (Digital Manga Publishing) licensed the manga in 2011.
