2001 Nights' Hoshino to Launch Sci-fi Manga Rainman in March
posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
This year's sixth issue of Shogakukan's Big Comic magazine is announcing on Tuesday that Yukinobu Hoshino will launch a new science fiction manga series, titled Rainman, in the magazine's next issue, which Shogakukan will publish on March 25.
The magazine teases the plot:
Taki Amamiya is notified of the sudden suicide of his twin that he never even knew existed. But to Taki, who works reluctantly at the Parapsychology Research Institute, it was only the prelude to a more shocking chain of events. After following the recommendation from police to investigate the matter more in depth, they found a surprising fact: Taki has no brain.
Yukinobu Hoshino also created the 2001 Nights science fiction manga series, which he originally serialized in Futabasha's Monthly Super Action magazine. It was adapted into an original video anime (OVA) of the same name in 1987, and another OVA titled To (2001 Nights) in 2009, which Funimation licensed and released in North America in June 2011. UK distributor Manga Entertainment released it in the United Kingdom in September 2011.
