Bayonetta 2 Wins 'Accessible Mainstream Game of the Year' Award for 2014
posted on by Karen Ressler
The AbleGamers charity awarded its Accessible Mainstream Game of the Year for 2014 award to Bayonetta 2 last Tuesday.
The award recognizes accessibility of game design, particularly for players with disabilities. Bayonetta 2 won the award because of its multiple controller options on the Wii U, high-quality visuals and subtitles that are not impeded by colorblindness, and the one-button combat mode option.
Other titles considered for the award include Pokémon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire, Hearthstone, Tropico 5, Sims 4, and Civilization: Beyond Earth. The Accessible Indie Game award went to Vagabond Dog's Always Sometimes Monsters and 11 Bit Studios' This War of Mine.
AbleGamers is a charity that raises awareness for the need for accessibility in games, and raises money for technology that can assist people with disabilities in playing games.
