Bandai Namco Games announced on Wednesday that its Star Wars: Battle Pod arcade game is heading to North America in January 2015. The first-person pilot game shares hardware similarities with the developer's earlier Mobile Suit Gundam P.O.D. arcade title.
The "P.O.D." stands for "Panoramic Optical Display" —a hemisphere-shaped screen. While the game have not come to the United States, they are popular in Japanese arcades. The Star Wars: Battle Pod arcade game will feature technology that is similar to Gundam's Panoramic Optical Display. Both games support multiplayer network play as well.
The Kidō Senshi Gundam: Senjō no Kizuna (Mobile Suit Gundam: Bonds of the Battlefield) P.O.D. arcade game is featured in the Bantaikan TV Kidō Senshi Gundam Dai-07 Itakura Shōtai television program where Toshiyuki Itakura and his team of fellow television personalities compete with other teams from all around Japan.
