North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment announced the company acquired the rights to Masamune Shirow and Koushi Rikudou's Pandora of the Crimson Shell: Ghost Urn (Kōkaku no Pandora - Ghost Urn) sci-fi manga on Friday. Seven Seas will publish the first volume in July 2015. The announcement is the third of seven planned for this week.
The story takes place in the near future, where the world is becoming immersed in cyber-technology. A girl named Nene Nanakorobi is a "zenshin," a person whose entire body was replaced with machines. She heads to a man-made island resort with the help from her relatives. However, waiting on the island is an incredible new life filled with weapons of mass destruction and terrorists run rampant.
Shirow and Rukudo launched the manga in Kadokawa Shoten's Newtype Ace in 2012 but the magazine ceased publication last year. The manga moved to Kadokawa's Niconico Ace website. Kadokawa published the fourth volume on June 23. Shirow is responsible for the story, while Rikudou is drawing the art.
Rikudou may be best known as the creator of Excel Saga. He ended Excel Saga in Shonengahosha's Young King Ours magazine in 2011. Rikudou ended his Kantan Kiss (Easy Kiss) manga in Shonengahosha's Young Comic magazine on September 10. He also ended his Sarakiel fantasy manga and his AGEHA manga last year.
