Man to Be Prosecuted for Uploading Maken-Ki! 2 on FC2

The Hokkaido Prefectural Police's Cybercrime Task Force and Ebetsu Station sent the case of a 46-year-old unemployed Tokyo man to the Sapporo District Prosecutor's Office on September 12 on charges of violating Japan's Copyright Law. The suspect is accused of uploading the first Maken-Ki! Battling Venus 2 anime episode to the FC2 servers on June 1. He also allegedly uploaded about 1,000 other titles, after downloading them mainly from Bittorrent.
The suspect allegedly admitted to the charges, saying that he uploaded the files to attract attention and earn money through an advertisting affiliate program. He was originally arrested on September 11, and the police confiscated his personal computer and hard drives.
