Crunchyroll Streams Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars

posted on by Tiara Hamilton

Media service Crunchyroll announced during Québec's Otakuthon convention that they will be adding Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars of the Super Robot Wars series. The anime will be available on August 29 at 6:00 pm EDT for United States and Canadian viewers. The series was licensed by Media Blasters' AnimeWorks and was released a few months later on DVD, complete collection, last year.

Crunchyroll describes the new series as:

In “Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars”, the Space Era has begun and human civilization has expanded into space. But in the future, Earth is a very different place. At the start of the 21st century, two meteors strike the planet sending humanity spiraling into chaos. After a series of wars, the Earth Federation Government unites all the peoples of Earth under one flag and finally restores the peace. But then a third meteor strikes Earth in the Marquesas Islands of the South Pacific. This meteor, however, is different. Inside it is a cache of alien technology and proof that invaders are heading to Earth in order to reclaim the planet ... or worse yet, invade it. The technology that was discovered is now utilized by the government to create humanoid robots, called Personal Troopers, in order to defend Earth from annihilation. And the battle begins!

Crunchyroll also announced the streaming start date for Liar Game and Iryū - Team Medical Dragon: September 24. The full season will be available for all-access and drama members. For free members, two episodes will premiere each week.

The Liar Game television series is an adaptation of Shinobu Kaitani's Liar Game psychological thriller manga. The two television seasons star Erika Toda (Death Note films) and Shota Matsuda (Hana Yori Dango television drama) as the protagonists Nao Kanzaki and Shinichi Akiyama, respectively.

Crunchyroll describes Liar Game as:

Adapted from the manga of the same name, Liar Game centers around Nao Kanzaki, a student who was blackmailed into joining a "Liar Game" and ended up losing 100 million yen. In order to repay the debt, she enlists the help of Shinichi Akiyama, a genius swindler who was only recently released from jail for bankrupting one of Japan's largest scam companies in Japan.

Tarō Nogizaka's Iryū - Team Medical Dragon manga has inspired four live-action series the most recent having premiered in January.

The series stars Kenji Sakaguchi (Ikebukuro West Gate Park) as Ryūtarō Asada.

Crunchyroll describes Iryū - Team Medical Dragon as:

Ryutaro Asada, a renegade but brilliant surgeon, was being framed for a misdiagnosis and let go by the North Japanese Hospital. He went into exile and lived in a seaside shack when he was visited by Akira Kato, assistant professor of the Faculty of Cardiac Surgery at Meishin University Medical Hospital. Despite being a female doctor, Akira managed to become an assistant professor. She was ambitious and set her goal to be promoted to full professor by succeeding in a surgery using the Batista technique - an extremely difficult type of heart surgery - and to write a paper on it. A year ago, Akira witnessed Ryutaro's skills when he was an NGO doctor and was impressed enough to seek his assistance in the Batista technique.

Liar Game and Iryū - Team Medical Dragon will be available to Crunchyroll members in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, South Africa, Netherlands, Central and South America (including the Caribbean), Australia, New Zealand, Scandinavia, Germany, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Poland, Denmark, Hungary, Czech Republic, Romania, France and DOM/TOM, and Andorra.

Hanamonogatari's launch was also announced for Monday. Special Mushi-Shi episodes 11 and 12 will be added this week.
