Nana Mizuki Cancels Concert Due to Inflamed Vocal Cords
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Voice actress and singer Nana Mizuki canceled this Sunday's "Nana Mizuki Live Flight 2014" tour concert due to inflamed vocal cords. The concert was scheduled to begin in Kitakyūshū, Fukuoka at 4:00 p.m.
After Saturday's concert at the same venue, the performer's vocal cords were inflamed, and she lost her voice. Just before the doors were scheduled to open for today's concert, Mizuki tested her condition. After consulting with a doctor and event staff, the concert organizers decided to cancel the performance.
Fans who purchased tickets for the canceled event can get refunds. Refund information will be available from the tour website, Mizuki's official website, ticket retailers, and other sources on Monday.
Snack food maker Calbee held a campaign for a chance to win backstage passes for the final "Nana Mizuki Live Flight 2014" concert in Yokohama, Kanagawa on August 3. Police in Hyogo prefecture arrested a 25-year-old office worker who bought 500 pounds of the campaign's potato chips and allegedly dumped the unwanted snacks in two cities. The voice actress was "deeply saddened by the event" and used the situation to promote the Marugomi trash pickup project.
The "Nana Mizuki Live Flight 2014" tour began on June 1 and runs until August 3.
Mizuki's anime roles include Naruto's Hinata, Blood-C's Saya, and Minami-ke's Tōma. She has performed theme songs for anime such as Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha, Dog Days, and Senki Zesshō Symphogear. Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs named Mizuki Rookie of the Year in the Popular Entertainment division of the 64th Annual Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) Art Encouragement Prizes in March.
