Discotek Licenses Violence Jack OVA Series
posted on by Karen Ressler
Discotek Media announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the OVA series Violence Jack and plans to release a complete collection on DVD in early 2015. The release will include both the Japanese and the English dubs.
The company clarified that the video will be uncut, but with some mosaic used, the same as the Japanese version.
The OVA consists of three, one-hour episodes from 1986, 1988, and 1990, respectively. Manga Entertainment released all three on dubbed VHS tapes in 1996, and Right Stuf's Critical Mass label released the episodes on uncut subtitled VHS.
The story is set on a future Earth that has been ripped apart by natural disasters. Civilization has turned into a brutish nightmare of survival. Violence Jack is caught in the crossfire when a new violent war erupts. Meanwhile Mari, a beautiful women, is looking for her lost lover, Ken.
The OVA is based on Gō Nagai's (Cutie Honey, Devilman, Mazinger Z) longest running manga series.
