The July issue of Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko Magazine is announcing on Tuesday that author Yashichiro Takahashi and artist Noizi Ito are launching a new novel series called Kanae no Hoshi (Kanae's Star) on August 9. It has been three years since they worked together to publish the 22nd and final light novel volume of Shakugan no Shana.
The story centers around Kanae Sukue, a middle school boy who possesses "Sude no Michi," the power to forecast destiny. The story begins when he is "chosen" by a girl named Soyogi of the Hoshihira Line (pictured left in photo).
Soyogi spends her time in a place called the Hoshihira Line. She teaches Kanae, a boy who has awakened his "half-opened eye," the truth of the world. "Hain no Tesaki" (Hain's minion, pictured far right) is a mysterious entity who possesses the "half-closed eye" which allows her to control the strings of fate. She brings about "Transi," a great danger to the world.
Takahashi and Ito's Shakugan no Shana novel series inspired three television anime series. The Shakugan no Shana III (Final) anime series aired in Fall of 2011 and adapted the novel series' ending. Ito worked as a character designer or illustrator on a number of popular series, including The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Another light novels. She also contributed character designs for Nippon Ichi Software's The Guided Fate Paradox (Kamisama to Unmei Kakumei no Paradox) game.
