Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special I to Air in U.S. on May 31

Cartoon Network will air the Pokémon: Mega Evolution Special I anime special in the United States on May 31 at 8:00 a.m. ET. The special premiered in Japan as Pocket Monsters XY Tokubetsu Hen: Saikyō Mega Shinka ~Act I~ (Pokémon XY Special: Strongest Mega Evolution ~Act I~) on April 3.
Mega Evolution. A new evolutionary form introduced in the Kalos Region. Is it really possible for all Pokémon to undergo Mega Evolution? This story revolves around a young trainer named Alan and his partner Lizadon (Charizard). Alan's objective on his journey is to "defeat all Mega Evolution Pokémon and stand at the top of the strongest summit." Along their journey Alan and Charizard meet and battle with Mega Absol and Mega Gaburias (Mega Garchomp). Additionally, Alan will battle with Zumi (Siebold), one of the Kalos Elite Four. Does Siebold also have a Mega Evolution Pokémon? Why is Alan so obsessed with Mega Evolution? And what is the real purpose of his journey?
TV Tokyo began streaming a promotional video for Pocket Monsters XY Tokubetsu Hen: Saikyō Mega Shinka ~Act II~ (Pokémon XY Special: Strongest Mega Evolution ~Act II~) on May 16. A premiere date for the special's second part has yet to be announced. The Pocket Monsters XY Mega Mega One-Hour Special will also premiere on TV Tokyo on May 29 at 7:00 p.m.
The ongoing Pokémon XY television anime series airs new episodes on TV Tokyo at 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays.
The series began airing on Cartoon Network in January.
