Square Enix confirmed on Friday that it will release Final Fantasy III on Windows PC over Steam. German video game regulation body USK previously listed the port before its official announcement.
The company has not yet announced a release date, but the game will cost US$15.99. The game's Steam page lists several updates: new and improved 3D visuals and and cut-scenes, updated graphics, new designs on the Job Mastery Cards, easier browsing through the monster bestiary, and the inclusion of Steam Trading Cards and Achievements.
Square originally released the game for the Family Computer system (known as the Nintendo Entertainment System in North America) in 1990. A Nintendo DS version shipped in Japan in 2006, followed by an iOS and Android device release in 2011 and a PlayStation Portable release in 2012.
