Site: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: ASB Game Names to Match 'U.S./European' Anime
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
According to gaming news site Siliconera, Namco Bandai Games said that the Western release of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle's character names will be "matched to the U.S. and European versions of the recent anime to ensure consistency."
A North American and European license of the 26-episode JoJo's Bizarre Adventure television series has not yet been announced. The series ended in April. Viz Media published Part 3 of the manga in the United States.
Namco Bandai stated the names will be changed to avoid "offending any party,” while working with Japanese publisher Shueisha to fit new name choices with creator Hirohiko Araki's intentions. The company also stated that Japanese sound effect animations will remain intact.
The character names in the manga, anime, and game are based on musical acts like R.E.O Speedwagon, Cars, Wham!, ACDC, Santana, and Vanilla Ice.
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle is slated for a 2014 release in the U.S. and Europe. The third anime series adaptation will premiere next year.
