This year's 47th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is announcing on Monday that Namco Bandai Games will release the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Z game on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PS Vita in Japan on January 23, 2014. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions will cost 7,480 yen (about US$76), while the PS Vita version will cost 6,480 yen (US$66).
Weekly Shonen Jump adds that players can form their teams from any combination of characters, including multiple versions of the same character. That includes the "ultimate Son Goku team" (composed of four different forms of the hero from regular to Super Saiyan God), the "Majin Corps," or the "Evolution of Android Cell."
The game will ship in North America for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox 360 in early 2014. Namco Bandai Games has confirmed that the game will also be released in Europe, Latin America, and Brazil. The PS3 and XBox 360 versions will be available in retail in North America, while the PS Vita version will be download only.
In the "team melee action" game, up to four players can play cooperatively, or eight players can engage in a massive battle royale. The game will feature four different battle types, and a full-featured solo play. The game has online multiplayer support, and players can work together on attacks such as "Synchro Rush" or boosting each other's health via "Revive Soul."
