Web COMIC@LOID, ASCII Media Works' web project exclusively for free Vocaloid-themed manga, is spawning a print magazine on July 13. COMIC@LOID 1 will carry manga inspired by the characters and music created with the Vocaloid vocal music synthesis software.
The web COMIC@LOID project started releasing manga for free on Nico Nico Seiga and similar e-book services last December, and each issue has garnered about 100,000 views. Mosaic Roll, manga artist akka's adaptation of DECO*27's popular song of the same name, will be among the web COMIC@LOID titles that will migrate over to the print magazine version with new content.
Other titles in the first issue include CAFFEIN's megu-megu☆Singer Song Fighter manga (inspired by “megu-megu ☆ Fire Endless Night”), and Tomiyaki Kagisora's adaptation of the “Setsuna Trip” song by Last Note. Also in the print edition, Yae shimano will start a new manga based on the "Dancing☆Samurai" song by mathru (kanimiso-P).
Each issue will cost 690 yen (about US$7), and the first issue will bundle a double-sided poster of Megpoid software library's character Gumi, as illustrated by tama. the second issue will ship on September 13. COMIC@LOID will not only be available in print, but also in e-book form on Kadokawa's BOOK☆WALKER app and similar venues in mid-July for 571 yen (US$5.80).
