Jury Finds in Favor of IMDb in Actress Trial

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A Seattle jury found in favor of Amazon's IMDb website in actress Junie Hoang's lawsuit on Thursday. Hoang was suing the website for using her credit card information to display her age, an act which she claimed affected her ability to get roles.

According to IMDb, the actress was found to have previously entered a false birth date into her account, an act which IMDb stated violated their terms of service. After IMDb updated her profile with her accurate date, the site stated that Hoang attempted to get the birth date changed back, provided false documents such as a passport and birth certificate that supported her previous, inaccurate birth date, and sent e-mails claiming to be other parties.

Hoang originally filed the lawsuit anonymously in 2011 for US$1 million. The case moved forward in court in March, albeit for lesser charges, but was delayed after the death of John Dozier, the attorney representing Hoang.
