Gainax Outlines Possible Tenshi Yohō ~Strange Weathers~ CGI Anime
posted on by Sarah Nelkin
Anime studio Gainax revealed at its booth at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) that it has plans to create a new CGI anime titled Tenshi Yohō ~Strange Weathers~ (Angel Forecast ~Strange Weathers~). Gainax producer Tomoko Saitō (Medaka Box) informed ANN that the project has not been green-lit yet, and is still collecting funds.
The director and creator for the project is Ken Nikai, who is known for his work on promotional music videos for such Japanese artists as L'Arc-en-Ciel, HYDE, and ALI PROJECT. Nikai also directed the live-action film adaptation of Ai Yazawa's Last Quarter manga, and he also worked on the ending sequence of the Dantalian no Shoka anime, also produced by Gainax. Nakai also directed the "Un Jour, Un Chien" short anime based on Gabrielle Vincent's original children's picture book. Nakai will be working alongside CG artist Tron Kichichōji on Tenshi Yohō ~Strange Weathers~.
The story takes place in a place far above the Earth called the "Light Factory." One day, the angels who are hard at work drawing at a windowsill receive an important mission from the archangel to search for the "Book of Zero." The characters are Snow, a male angel who has descended to Earth to search for the Book of Zero; Cloudy, a human girl who works as a chimney sweep who is actually a demon; and Rainy., a human girl who has fantastically-beautiful "eyes of a rabbit."
