Naruto Tops Graphic Novels in U.S. Bookstores in February
posted on by Karen Ressler
The 60th volume of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto manga topped the Nielsen BookScan's list of top 20 graphic novels in American bookstores for February. The volume is one of five manga titles on the list. Volume nine of Naoko Takeuchi's Sailor Moon rose from its #6 rank from last month to #4, making February the best showing for manga in the top five since September. Tite Kubo's Bleach volume 55, QuinRose's Alice in the Country of Joker: Circus and Liar's Game volume 1, and Yana Toboso's Black Butler volume 12, ranked at #10, #15, and #19 respectively.
Robert Kirkman's The Walking Dead comic series continued to dominate the chart, claiming eight places this month, the highest being The Walking Dead Compendium volume 1, which ranked at #2.
The BookScan rankings represent sales at Barnes & Noble and other book chains, independent bookshops, and online purchases — but not sales at comic book stores, Walmart, and some other venues.
