Media Blasters Adds Super Robot Wars OG Video, TV Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
North American anime distributor Media Blasters announced on Friday that its AnimeWorks label licensed the Super Robot Wars Original Generation - The Animation video anime project and Super Robot Wars OG: Divine Wars television series. AnimeWorks will release them separately in July.
Both project adapt the original characters created for Banpresto's popular Super Robot Wars tactical role-playing games. In the New Calendar era, a foreign body called Meteorite-3 crash lands on Aidoneus Island, bringing with it the materials and science of what mankind dubs Extra Over Technology. The arrival of this technology is proof of the existence of extraterrestrial life, and data recovered from Meteorite-3 indicates that the aliens are using a form of articulated mobile weaponry. Humankind faces off against the aliens with Personal Troopers, a form of mobile weaponry.
Bandai Visual USA released both projects in 2008. There has since been a 2010 television sequel called Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector.
