JASRAC, the Japanese Society for the Rights of Authors, Composers and Publishers, announced on Thursday that police arrested a 36-year-old male office worker from Hekinan City in Aichi Prefecture the day before on suspicion of violating Japan's Copyright Law. The man allegedly used the Share file-sharing software to upload nearly 1,800 files of anime songs and manga. According to the authorities, the suspect wanted to share the files with other people with a common interest in anime.
Security researchers have known about flaws in Share's anonymity features since 2006.
