Some customers who wanted to reserve the limited-edition Nintendo 3DS LL Pikachu Yellow waited over four hours in line in Tokyo on Saturday. Over 300 fans lined up at the Tokyo Pokémon Center by 10:00 a.m and the number grew rapidly throughout the day. The reporter from the Japanese website Inside Games arrived at the line 10:00 a.m. and did not get to the register until 2:30 p.m.
The seven Pokémon Centers throughout Japan began handing out reservation tickets on Saturday. However, the Nagoya, Tokyo and Osaka centers ran out the same day.
The Pikachu Yellow 3DS LL (known as 3DS XL outside Japan) is handheld's first color variant. The system is selling for 18,900 yen (about USD$238). Individuals with reservation tickets can pick up the device on September 15. The Pokémon Center Staff blog also confirmed that this limited edition is not currently planned for general sale.
