Crunchyroll to Stream Yamakan's 3/11 Charity Anime Blossom
posted on by Egan Loo
The media service Crunchyroll announced on Sunday that it will stream blossom, the March 11 charity animation short from director Yutaka Yamamoto (Kannagi, Fractale) and his anime studio Ordet, "later this year."
In an interview published last September, Yamamoto (or as he is known, "Yamakan") expressed his desire to deal with the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake (Higashi Nihon Daishinsai) disaster in his next work. This past year, he has been joining anime fans and itasha (decorated car) owners in going to offer relief aid to Shichigahama, the tsunami-devastated hometown of Kannagi manga creator Eri Takenashi. (The town and the local Hanabushi shrine inspired the backdrop seen in the Kannagi anime.)
The blossom anime will premiere at the Tokyo International Anime Fair on March 24.
