Magic Kaito 'Hijacks' Detective Conan Show for 4 Weeks (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Gōshō Aoyama's Magic Kaito manga will be adapted into four anime specials which will "hijack" the timeslot of the Detective Conan television anime series for four weeks this August. Magic Kaito centers on a young budding magician named Kaito Kuroba who follows in his late father's footsteps as the legendary thief Kaitō Kid.
Not coincidentally, Aoyama also created Detective Conan, and Kaitō Kid has appeared as a rival of the diminutive detective both in the Detective Conan manga and in various anime stories.
The Kaitō Kid episodes will begin on August 6 with "Kaitō Kid no Isogashii Date" (Kaitō Kid's Busy Date) and continues on August 13 with "Ōjo-sama wa Magic ga Osuki" (Her Highness Loves Magic). The specials conclude with the two-part "Conan-Kid no Ryōma O-Takara Kōbō-Sen" (Conan/Kid's Battle for the Ryōma Treasure) on August 20 and 27.
A Magic Kaito television anime special aired last April as the first anime adaptation of the manga.

Update: More background information added and episode title's spelling fixed. Thanks, Geoffrey Brewster.
Update 2: Comic Natalie describes the upcoming stories as Kaito Kid specials which will run for four straight episodes. The website of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine describes "all" of the episodes in August as "Kid Specials," but only the first two as "Magic Kaitō Specials."
