Funimation Adds We Without Wings – Under the Innocent Sky
posted on by Egan Loo
The North American anime and live-action distributor Funimation announced on Saturday that it licensed the We, Without Wings – Under the Innocent Sky television anime series as well as the live-action Zebraman 2: Attack On Zebra City and City Under Seige films.
We, Without Wings follows three protagonists through different times of day. Timid Takashi, who dreams of escaping to an alternate world, part-timer Shuusuke who works at a local cafe, and handyman Hayato. All three are interlinked somehow but to what extent is only revealed over time.
The anime is based on an adult visual novel by NAVEL, the original creators of Shuffle! and Soul Link. The anime is currently streaming on Crunchyroll.
Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City is Takashi Miike's (Ichi the Killer) sequel to the 2004 Zebraman film starring Show Aikawa as Zebraman. The movie takes place 15 years after the original film, with an amnesiac Zebraman trying to save a young girl taken by the new fascist police-state of Zebra City. The first film was released by Media Blasters in 2007.
City Under Seige is a Hong Kong sci-fi action film directed and written by Benny Chan (New Police Story, Fist of Fury, and Heroic Duo). The story follows a group of circus performers who gain supernatural abilities after being exposed to toxic gas left over by the Japanese during World War II. The film stars Aaron Kwok and Collin Chou (Matrix series, Fearless). Funimation's page for the film can be found here.
