Ushijima the Loan Shark Manga Gets Live-Action Show

This year's combined 36/37th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Big Comic Spirits magazine has announced on Monday that Shohei Manabe's Ushijima the Loan Shark (Yamikin Ushijima-kun) manga is being adapted into a live-action television series. The story of the manga depicts the human drama in the black market world, as seen through the eyes of the titular loan shark.
The television series is slated to premiere this October during a late-night timeslot on MBS, TBS, and their affiliates. Additional information, such as the cast, have yet to be announced.

Update: The original manga was recommended by the jury at the 2007 (11th) Japan Media Arts Festival Awards. It was also nominated for Osamu Tezuka Culture Prize in 2008 and 2010 , and for France's Angoulême Comics Awards in 2008.
