Shuho Sato Launches MangaonWeb.com for Other Creators
posted on by Egan Loo
Shuho Sato, the creator of the Say Hello to Black Jack, Umizaru, and The Isle of TOKKOU manga, launched the MangaonWeb.com site on March 30. He has already been self-publishing his own manga titles online in Japanese since last summer, but his new site now distributes other creators' manga online as well. The site currently has a mix of free and paid works, and the website is not charging creators any registration fees to post works for the first two months.
The vast majority of the other manga creators on the site are not as well-known as Sato himself, although on Wednesday, Sato highlighted the fact that Makiru Momoto has posted works on the site. Like Sato, Momoto once serialized manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Young Sunday magazine.
In February, Sato revealed that he earned about 500,000 yen (about US$5,500) within the first six weeks of 2010 through online manga.
