Yoshitaka Amano's N.Y. Salad Gets 3D Film Green-Lit
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website of Yoshitaka Amano's Yasai no Yōsei - N.Y. Salad television anime series has announced on Friday that a 3D film has been green-lit for release early next spring. This anime uses an innovative combination of computer graphics and pencil sketches to depict the secret nocturnal life of vegetables in a New York kitchen. Not coincidentally, Amano (Final Fantasy games, Vampire Hunter D, Gatchaman) lives in New York City.
The television anime had two series on the public broadcasting channel NHK-Educational: one in 2007 and another in 2008. It won the Animedia Award at the 2008 Japanese Otaku Awards, an award at the 7th Film and Video Technical Awards, and a jury recommendation at the 12th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards.
The upcoming film will open on about 40 screens in Japan.
