Fumihiko Sori's To Sci-Fi CG Anime Trailer Streamed
posted on by Egan Loo
The official website for Fumihiko Sori's computer-animated To science-fiction action project began streaming a 128-second rental trailer on August 27. (In the linked page, select the "Movie" menu option on the bottom.) The website is still streaming the first 90-second promotional movie, as well as video comments from SORI, voice actor Jun Fukuyama (Ion), and voice actress Aya Hirano (Ariina).
After producing the first computer-animated Appleseed film and directing both Ping Pong and Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan, SORI is now adapting two stories from Yukinobu Hoshino's 2001 Nights (2001 Ya Monotogari) manga. "Symbiotic Planet" and "Elliptical Orbit" are part of Hoshino's centuries-long storyline about mankind's voyages into space.
The distributor Avex will begin renting the two titles on DVD in Japanese video stores on October 2. The retail DVD and Blu-ray Disc versions will ship on December 18. Viz published the original manga in English in North America, and the manga was also translated into Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Thai. The manga already inspired a 1987 video anime adaptation from TMS Entertainment and director Yoshio Takeuchi.
