"New People," the new cultural entertainment center in San Francisco's Japantown, is hosting Viz Media's NANA Shojo Beat Anime Night and Honey and Clover Shojo Beat Anime Night on September 16 and September 22, respectively. The Viz Cinema theater will screen the live-action film versions of both manga titles as well as the first episode of each manga title's television anime adaptation.
Viz Cinema will then screen Daihachi Yoshida's FUNUKE: Show Some Love, You Losers! dark comedy film between September 18 and September 24. In the story, adult and teenaged siblings cope with their parents' deaths and their awkward shared past. One of the main plotlines is the youngest sister's dream of becoming a horror manga creator. Katsuhito Ishii's Sorasoi "summer-camp comedy" film will follow from September 25 to October 1. The director of Funky Forest: The First Contact and Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl centers his newest film on a group of college students who stay at the Sorasoi beach hostel to prepare for a dance competition.
