Junko Mizuno to Appear at San Francisco Next Saturday (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
Editor Patrick Macias of jaPRESS studio has announced that manga creator and illustrator Junko Mizuno will appear in San Francisco's Japantown to sign copies of her new Little Fluffy Gigolo PELU book on Saturday, August 22. Last Gasp Publishing and jaPRESS are publishing this book as well as her previous Pure Trance book. Mizuno is best known for her deliberately grotesque yet cute illustrations which have appeared in the Cinderalla, Hansel and Gretel, and Princess Mermaid books from Viz Media. The New People cultural entertainment center will host the signing at 2:00 p.m. on that day. Macias also moderated the panel that another noted Japanese illustrator, Yoshitaka Amano, held outside the New People center on August 15.
The American publisher Marvel Comics confirmed in June that Mizuno is one of the many independent talents contributing to Strange Tales Max, a three-issue anthology that will launch in September. Marvel published an interview with Mizuno on Wednesday.
Update: A preview of the Little Fluffy Gigolo PELU manga is available online.
