posted on by Egan Loo
The Anime Expo convention has announced that Afro Samurai manga creator Takashi Okazaki will attend the July 2-5 event in Los Angeles as a Guest of Honor. The Gonzo anime studio adapted Okazaki's best known manga into the Afro Samurai television mini-series (2007) and later into the Afro Samurai: Resurrection television movie (2009). Both anime projects became the bestselling anime DVD releases of their respective years.
Seven Seas Entertainment released the manga in North America, and Funimation released the anime adaptations. Actor/producer Samuel L. Jackson has been discussing his attempt to adapt the story into a live-action film, although it is still in the planning stages. Okazaki also illustrated the Spider-Man 2 DVD and the limited-edition comic insert for the Blade III original soundtrack CD.
