Gatchaman Voice Actor Mikio Terashima Passes Away

Veteran voice actor Mikio Terashima passed away on Thursday at 4:05 p.m. in a hospital in Tokorozawa, Japan. He was 77. Terashima voiced roles in dozens of anime from the 1960s into the 21st century. He is arguably best known for playing the enigmatic villain Berg Katze in the various Gatchaman anime projects. He also performed in many other classics, including Chō Denji Machine Voltes V, Dagger of Kamui, Ninpu Kamui Gaiden, and several Space Battleship Yamato projects as Sho Yamazaki. More recently, he appeared in The Big O and Turn A Gundam. His live-action credits included the films Nihon no Yoru to Kiri and Kabe no Naka no Himeoto.
Terashima left behind his wife Yasuko. A private funeral ceremony for family members only is planned for Tuesday.
