posted on by Egan Loo
2009's 1st issue of Akita Shoten's Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine will announce on Thursday that Masami Kurumada and Shiori Teshirogi's Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa manga has an original video anime version green-lit for next spring. The mythical action manga's story is set in the middle of the 18th century, 243 years before the first Saint Seiya storyline. Artist Teshirogi focuses The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa on the friendship of Tenma and Alone — the previous incarnations of the characters Pegasus Seiya and Hades who would become mortal enemies in the original Saint Seiya. The manga and the upcoming anime also includes Sasha, the earlier incarnation of Athena.
Kurumada drew the original Saint Seiya manga from 1986 to 1990, and Teshirogi has been drawing the The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa prequel manga since 2006. 11 volumes of the prequel have been compiled and published so far. The Lost Canvas - Meiō Shinwa anime will be the 10th anime project of the long-running Saint Seiya franchise.
