What's Michael Creator to Launch Seki no Yatappe Manga
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 24th issue of Kodansha's Evening magazine has announced that Makoto Kobayashi (What's Michael?, Club 9) will launch a new manga based on Shin Hasegawa's Seki no Yatappe adventure play on January 13. The play centers around Yatarō, a young sword-wielding, gambling yakuza in Japan's medieval times. The popular story has already been adapted into several live-action movies and television drama projects. However, Kobayashi is adding his own personal twist by having Jūgo Sago, the main character in his Judo Bu Monogatari martial arts training manga, "star" as Yatarō in his new manga.
Both Judo Bu Monogatari and What's Michael? have been adapted into anime. Dark Horse Comics released the original manga versions of What's Michael? and Club 9 in North America.
