Jump Square Editor: Tegami Bachi May Get 2009 TV Anime
posted on by Egan Loo
Shueisha's Jump Square magazine editor-in-chief Masahiko Ibaragi told Kids Station's Anime Paradise news program on Tuesday morning that he "thinks" that there will be a Tegami Bachi (Letter Bee) anime on television in 2009. Ibaragi made the comment in an Anime Paradise report on Jump Square at 24:43 on November 17 (effectively, 12:13 a.m. on November 18). Ibaragi also noted there was already a Tegami Bachi anime special, about 30 minutes long, that ran during this fall's Jump Super Anime Tour events in Japan. This special, along with the anime specials for Dragon Ball and the One Piece "pilot" manga Romance Dawn, will be streamed on the Jumpland website on November 24.
Hiroyuki Asada's original Tegami Bachi manga follows a boy who runs deliveries as a "Letter Bee" messenger throughout a strange fantasy land. Viz Media announced at July's Comic-Con International event that it will be releasing the Tegami Bachi manga in North America. Anime Paradise's report also included a behind-the-scenes look into Jump Square magazine's editorial office.
