posted on by Egan Loo
All three manga- and anime-related films on Kogyo Tsushinsha's top ten chart for the Japanese box office in the December 29-30 weekend dropped one spot to make way for Alien vs. Predator: Requiem's opening. Bleach: The DiamondDust Rebellion - Mō Hitotsu no Hyōrinmaru, Noriyuki Abe's second film based on the Bleach television anime series and manga, fell from its opening weekend's #4 spot to #5. Eiga de Tōjō! Tamagotchi Doki Doki! Uchū no Maigotchi!? (Appearing on Film! Tamagotchi!: Lost in Space!?), the first feature-length film based on the toys that spawned the virtual pet fad, dropped from #6 to #7 in its third week. Always Zoku San-chōme no Yūhi (Always: Sunset on Third Street 2), Takashi Yamazaki's second film based on Ryōhei Saigan's Sanchoume no Yuuhi - Yuuyake no Uta post-war slice-of-life manga, dropped from #7 to #8 in its ninth week. (Remaining on top of the chart for a third week is Francis Lawrence's American film I am Legend, starring Will Smith.) The previous weekend's Japanese box office report has now been updated with box office totals.
