Japanese Box Office, December 9-10: Manga Films Drop

Always Zoku San-chōme no Yūhi (Always: Sunset on Third Street 2) finally dropped from #1 to #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's top ten chart for the Japanese box office in the December 9-10 weekend. In its sixth weekend, Takashi Yamazaki's adaptation of Ryōhei Saigan's Sanchoume no Yuuhi - Yuuyake no Uta post-war slice-of-life manga earned the equivalent of US$1,182,721 (Box Office Mojo) this past weekend for a gross of US$32,817,535 to date.
Yes! Precure 5: Kagami no Kuni no Miracle Daibōken!, the anime movie spinoff from the Yes! Precure 5 magical girl television series, dropped from #8 to #9 in its fourth weekend. Its weekend total was US$320,314, with a gross-to-date total of US$6,399,768. Crows Zero, Takashi Miike's prequel to Yukihiko Tsutsumi's Crows school brawl manga, t dropped from #9 to #10 in its sixth week. However, the Box Office Mojo website actually tallied more weekend earnings for Crows Zero than for Precure 5, with US$379,353 over the weekend and a total of US$21,400,071 to date.
