The Japanese publisher Square Enix has announced that Violinist of Hameln's Michiaki Watanabe, Sumomomo Momomo's Shinobu Ohtaka, Mahōjin Guru Guru's Hiroyuki Etō, and Iwasete Miteemon Da's Sato are creating new manga for the second issue (on sale November 30) of Zōkan Young Gangan (Young Gangan Special Edition). Zōkan Young Gangan is Young Gangan seinen manga magazine's irregularly printed spinoff that Square Enix debuted on June 29 of this year.
Watanabe is creating a new title called Hameln no Violin Hiki Gaiden: Sore kara… (Violinist of Hameln Side Story: And Then…). He worked on the original Violinist of Hameln fantasy adventure manga for 37 volumes from 1991 and 2001, and the manga already spawned a 1997 anime movie and a 1996-1997 anime series from series script editor Yasuhiro Imagawa (Giant Robo, Pet Shop of Horrors).
Ohtaka is creating a new manga called Manami Sensation about a teacher that is unrelated to his ongoing Sumomomo Momomo martial arts comedy manga in Young Gangan. Eto, an artist best known his Guru Guru roleplaying game parody manga and four-panel Dragon Quest cartoons, is working on his latest title called Kamarero. Finally, Sato is creating a work called Hito ga G no Yō da. Most of these new works are expected to be one-installment short stories. Zōkan Young Gangan's second issue also contains one-shot manga stories from six debuting new artists.
