Reed unveils New York Anime Festival

posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
New York City gets first exclusive anime/manga event since 2003's Big Apple Anime Fest.

Reed Exhibitions, the world's leading organizer of trade shows and consumer conventions, has officially announced the New York Anime Festival, to be held at the Jacob Javits Convention Center on December 7-9. For the last two years, the Javits has been the site of the New York Comic-Con, also organized by Reed. NYCC featured anime/manga industry panels and anime video rooms, and Reed plans on using the experience gained producing that event to help in organizing the anime festival. Much like Comic-Con did, it will have panels aimed at both the general public and at various professionals, such as buyers, store owners, booksellers and librarians, and members of the anime industry.

The NYAF website is now open. Attendee registration costs $30 per day or $55 for all three days. Unlike most other anime conventions in the US, NYAF draws on a number of sponsors. Confirmed sponsors include ADV, Tokyopop, Publisher's Weekly, Diamond Previews and BookExpo 2007.

Full disclosure: Anime News Network will be one of the sponsors of NYAF 2007.
