Japanese news papers have been reporting that DVD copies of Howl's Moving Castle have been available from street vendors since late December. The pirated DVD is assumed to have been produced by taping a theater showing, the video quality is blurry and audience noises can ocassionally be heard in the background.
The DVDs are selling for 1,000 yen (US$10 approx.) and some of them are disguised to appear as a legitimate release.
One street vendor has already been arrested and accused of being in possession of pirated DVDs. Approximately 1000 DVDs were seized.
